The other day I was waiting for the train. There were Hurricane Katrina survivors there getting around and, talk of Hurricane Katrina subjects. As an experiment to make sure that the Democratic Party was still frimly in control I threw out the following statement:

"Well, you know that George W. Bush's grandfather Prescott Bush used to own slaves, that's why they have the slave owner mentality!"

Not only is this not true, inflammatory and libel but also really off topic. Not only is this not true, but he was born after abolition. Its impossible.

It still didn't matter.

"Yeah that's right! I knew it!" and other phrases like it came from a few people waiting for the train. Instantly they ignored my laptop bag (and the urge to jack me in broad daylight) my pressed shirt, slacks, and cufflinks and took me in as one of their own.

It goes to show you, it doesn't matter what you say. As long as its anti-right, the Blacks will believe it.

Question: How many of you black people who read that statement initially believed it?
