Pope Jean Paul II has passed away.

He is a man who transcended religion to represent what was right. I can't think of anyone who worked to free more people from tyranny. Ronald Regan came close. This Pope however will go down in history as one of the most popular, influential and productive.

RIP.

Lacy Petersons parents Sharon Rocha and her ex-husband Dennis Rocha have filed a 20 Million dollar wrongful death suit against Scott Peterson. They are claiming they want to eliminate "a killers profit". They figure that Scott Peterson will sell his rights for movies and books and turn a hefty profit in prison.

The problem here though, is that it doesn't really matter how much money he earns while in prison as a person on death row, there are limited opportunities for enhancing your life by buying things.

To me it looks like a symbolic gesture and a little grandstanding. Scott is going to die, and, that should suffice. Filing a frivolous lawsuit on a condemned man is not exactly what I would call a good use of time and resources.

Last week my favorite mayor (NOT) Laura Miller said at a city council meeting that city manager Ted Benavides had hired an idiot in Terrell Bolton, the former police chief in Dallas.

Immediately the Civil Rights Industry spokespeople swung into action accusing the mayor of bigotry, racism (really?) and just about everything else. An apology to all African American People was demanded from the mayor because she supposedly insulted the entire race.

A couple of things come to mind when looking at this situation.

• Laura Miller is a Democrat. With this in mind, the Black Race already got what they wanted and that was another democrat in office. Democrats can do no wrong, therefore there is no problem.
• Democrats are incapable of racism. In spite of the fact that Senator Robert Byrd (blacks help keep him in office by voting for him in droves) was involved with the KKK, Democrats are incapable of racism. Period.
• The Civil Rights Industry spokespeople say that Terrell Bolton would not have been fired if he were not black. Well, that is true. He would not have been hired in the first place. Lets face it, this is affirmative action gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Lastly:

• Terrell Bolton was an idiot. If you look at the way he conducted himself, there is no doubt about it. This was a man who while he may have meant well, was pushed to the top and petered out long ago.

Now, with all that said, Laura Miller at the moment is a hero to me for calling a spade a spade and in this case, an idiot, an idiot.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger   from Germany is now Pope Benedict XVI. Pope Benedict XVI, 78 served as the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for Pope Jean Paul II. Basically he defended church policy against less conservative elements.

Going into the conclave Ratzinger seemed to be the favorite.

Good Luck Pope Benedict XVI. You have some big assed shoes to fill!

I watched completely without horror as the town of St. Petersburg Florida its, school system and subsequently Fairmont Park Elementary School were held hostage by a five year old. Luckily they got the thing on videotape.

During class the little girl acted up while counting jellybeans in class. As a punishment, the jelly beans were taken from her. She then went on the rampage trashing  Mrs. Ottersbach's desk, smashing a candy dish. When they tried to contain her, she then kicked another teacher in the shins, officials said. When she got to the principals office she threw books, then boxes, she climbed on the desk, stomped around, she drew on the walls and then assaulted the assistant principal.

The girl was to return to the classroom today, but her mother said that won't happen. "She's never going back to that school," Inda Akins said Thursday evening from her apartment on 39th Lane S. "They set my baby up."

Akins laughed at the last part. Her daughter, she said, weighs 40 pounds. The girl stood next to a reporter and measured about 3 1/2 feet. "She's just a regular girl," Akins said.

As she spoke, her three children rambled through the apartment. The girl, the oldest child, rode a pink bicycle through the living room, one of the training wheels missing. Her brother got up on a table and swatted a light fixture, laughing.

"I wanted to play the jelly bean game," the girl said when asked what upset her at school Monday.


Its never the students fault is it?

In the video I saw on CNN the little girl tearing up the Assistant Principals office and then kicking and hitting the assistant principal.

Now, the following things come to mind in all this melee.

• The fact that the girl had been a consistent discipline problem will be covered up.
• The Assistant Principal Nicole Dibenedetto only touched the little girl if she absolutely had to, if she did anything else, she could be sued or arrested.
• The girls mother could not get there in a reasonable time to fix this problem herself.
• The police did the right thing in restraining the girl I don't care how young she is. By the age of five you don't go running around hitting adults that aren't doing anything to you but requiring you to act civilized.
• If school personnel would have done anything they would have been called racists because the girl is black.
• The police I am sure, will be called racists regardless of the video.
• The Civil Rights Industry will conjure up some kind of slavery image.

Wait, don't tell me. "If my daughter wants to hit adults and tear up school property she should be able to do it. Don't be disciplining my child.". Thirty years ago, when corporal punishment could be administered to unruly children, the problem would have been stopped and, stopped quickly. Nowdays you can't even look at an unruly student the wrong way unless you want a lawsuit.

My prediction is that the little girl today, will be in prison tomorrow and the good citizens of Florida, after paying for the lottery winnings to come from the lawsuits in this incident will then have to shell out thirty large per year to house this person when she enters the penal system and about 10 large per child she had before she is finally arrested.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes dealerships will be sending her mother a nice note, inviting her to their showrooms. Dubs might want to send a postcard as well.
